The Class of 2023 participated in Junior Career Day on December 3rd. All students listened to our keynote speaker, Chris Ryan ’87 - co-founder of Silverquicken Education. Chris delivered a message focusing on Four S’s: Skills Will Bills, Sparks, Stockdale Paradox, and Still Small Voice. He shared stories about his time at Archmere and Harvard, his brother who flew for the Navy during Desert Storm, working for Teach for America, and that his juggling skills cannot pay the bills. He referenced the Admiral Jim Stockdale’s stay in the Hanoi Hilton, recommended paddling in the rapids, and even fit in a story about an ex-girlfriend.
During the remainder of the day students sat in four speaker presentations, participated in a session about careers being non-linear, and reflected on sessions they enjoyed during the program closing session. We’d like to thank all the Archmere community members that assisted with the program and all the alumni, parents, and friends of Archmere that assisted with presentations. Mrs. Reigner again co-ordinated a flawless program, leaving no detail to chance!
News for the Class of 2023 and families:
We had a robust and inquisitive group of parents attend the first of our two Junior Parent Nights. Thank you all for your energy and participation! The second program (we ask a parent or guardian to attend one of the two program - please don’t come to both!) is on January 11th, 6:30 in the SLC.
We’ve completed Introductory Meetings for about 70% of the members of the Class of 2023 and will open up more meeting slots when we return from the holiday vacation.
Family Meeting registration will open in early February.
Free Practice SAT
Our friends at Revolution Prep will be administering a practice SAT on Saturday, January 29th starting at 8 am (arrive no later than 7:45 am). The Class of 2023 is encouraged to participate, members of the Class of 2024 in an advanced math track are welcome to register as well.
Class of 2022
College Counseling will be responding to emails from any family wishing to discuss admission decisions. The majority of EA, ED, and early rolling admission decisions have been released. The next wave will be the late-earliest (yes an oxymoron) in late January. Regular decision and ED2 deadlines are generally during the first week of January - students are encouraged to check their portals to ensure completion of their application, meet deadlines days in advance, and inform College Counseling of any application plan additions or deletions.
