Soccer Team Heads to Playoffs
On Tuesday night at 6:30pm the Archmere soccer team will travel to Saint Mark's to compete in the first round of the DIAA State Championship. Coming off a 7-0 win over MOT Charter, the team enters the twelve team D2 tournament with an 8-7 record. Led by seniors Colin Arcari, Karol Diaz, Matthew Guariano, Jason Lotkowski, Mason Nowaczyk, Alex Passehl, Ryan Smith, and Nathaniel Sullivan, key wins this season included Sanford, DMA, Tatnall and Smyrna. Tickets for the State Tournament must be purchased in advance on the DIAA GoFan website.
DIAA crowns thirteen state champions during the fall season. Fall sport championship competition includes field hockey, boys soccer, cross country, football, volleyball, and unified flag football. DIAA classifies teams for Division I and Division II during the fall in field hockey, boys soccer, and cross country (boys and girls). Football classifies teams in three separate classes – Class 1A, Class 2A, and Class 3A.
