Volleyball Team Spends Their Weekend Giving Back

Last weekend several members of our volleyball team helped out at a local blood drive, timing volunteers after their donations and providing drinks and snacks. Their philanthropic efforts at the Claymont Fire Department were even highlighted by ABC News on the evening of Sunday August 24th.
The Claymont Fire Department Blood Drive was held in honor of local New Castle County policeman and volunteer firefighter, Chris Skrobot. Chris has been battling a form of leukemia for over a year. He is the son-in-law of Varsity Volleyball Coach, Jerry McCarthy. In total, the drive raised 13 gallons (110 pints).

On September 112, the volleyball team will host an LLS "Orange Out" game in support of Chris's family--with money raised to be given to the LLS Society.
