"The Drowsy Chaperone" Nominated for Eleven Cappies
Archmere Academy’s winter musical The Drowsy Chaperone has earned major recognition in this year’s Cappies Awards, receiving eleven nominations following Sunday’s voting. The results were officially announced Monday morning, marking one of the school’s strongest showings in the program’s history.
The production is tied for the highest number of nominations Archmere has received in its 14 years participating in the Cappies, matching the eleven nominations earned by Matilda in a previous season.
The nominations for The Drowsy Chaperone include:

Solo Dancer – Evie Lunger

Featured Actor in a Female Role – Gretchen Tonn
Supporting Actor in a Female Role – Katie Savitsky
Supporting Actor in a Male Role – Anne Shaposky
Lead Actor in a Female Role – Brianna Cubbler

This year’s nominations also mark several milestones for Archmere’s theater program. It is the first time a student has been nominated across three separate years, with Brianna “Brie” Cubbler previously recognized for her work in Matilda and Alice by Heart. The school also continues its strong tradition in costume design, earning a nomination in that category for the fourth time in the past five years.
The Best Musical nomination represents only the second time in Archmere history the program has been recognized in the category. Additionally, the nomination for Best Song secures the cast a performance slot at the Cappies Gala, just the fourth time Archmere has been invited to perform at the event.
Winners will be announced at the 20th Annual Cappies Gala, scheduled for Sunday, May 31st at Upper Darby High School. The event begins at 4:30 p.m.
The full list of nominees and the official nominations video will be available on the Cappies website beginning at 6 p.m. Monday evening.
The recognition highlights what many involved describe as a standout production, reflecting the dedication and talent of both the cast and crew.
