The Power of Female Mentorship: Geri Green ’76 Inspires Women’s Leadership Club
The Women’s Leadership Club welcomed a special guest last week as Geri Green ’76, Archmere’s first female graduate, shared her insights on the importance of female mentorship, generational leadership and supporting the success of other women.
Drawing on her experiences, Geri encouraged students to seek out strong female mentors and role models, be bold in pursuing opportunities and recognize the lasting impact that encouragement and support can have across generations. She also challenged students to consider the influence they can have on others, reminding them that leadership is about creating opportunities and helping other women succeed.
Using the image of a rippling pond, Geri illustrated how one person's encouragement and support can create a ripple effect, influencing others to do the same. She encouraged students to look beyond their immediate fields of interest when seeking mentors, celebrate the support they receive and, as they grow into leadership roles, become mentors and advocates for others.
The meeting also included cupcakes and a special treat for attendees: new Women's Leadership Club glitter stickers! Students were especially excited to welcome Head of School Dr. Dan Hickey Ed.D. ’89, whose presence and support made the gathering even more meaningful.
We are grateful to Geri for sharing her time, perspective and experiences with our students and for continuing to strengthen the connections between Archmere alumni and the next generation of Auks.
