Archmere softball player Rachel Gillen '11 earns 1,000th strikeout
Archmere senior Rachel Gillen earned her 1,000th strikeout against Symrna last week. Delaware Online reported on her success.
From Delaware Online: When Archmere Academy pitcher Rachel Gillen struck out Smyrna's Emily Smith to open the sixth inning, the Auks bench erupted.
Gillen's teammates surrounded her at the pitching circle and the fans all clapped in unison.
The attention was well deserved.
That strikeout gave the Archmere senior 1,000 for her spectacular career. Gillen went on to record two more en route to 12 strikeouts in the Auks' 7-2 victory over the Eagles on Friday.
