From the Transcipt (9/26/2011):
The First State will once again receive national attention as the University of Delaware’s acclaimed a cappella group, the Deltones, will make their television debut as one of the contestants on NBC’s third season of “The Sing-Off,” which will air on tonight at 8 p.m.
The show, which is pre-taped and features 11 episodes, displays 16 of the best a cappella groups from around the country, as they compete for a chance to win $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony Music. The final episode airs live on Nov. 28.
The Deltones were selected for the show after an audition tape the group submitted impressed the judges. In July the group flew to Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, Calif., for the filming of their debut episode. The Middletown Transcript spoke with Deltones singer Alyssa DiNardo, who grew up in Brandywine Hundred and graduated from Archmere Academy in 2009, about the group’s experience of being in the competition and their chances of winning the grand prize.
