"AlyCat dishes up a a fresh batch of funky-rock (a combination of jazz and funk) for listeners to consume, with a vibrant sound influenced by the likes of Stevie Wonder, The Brand New Heavies, and Nikaa Costa.

Lead singer and guitarist Alison Paige Newitt, a resident of Philadelphia, Pa., who grew up in Brandywine Hundred and graduated for Archmere Academy, said the band's songs feature themes of love and silliness, as in the case of thier song 'Restore.' The stong is about 'losing all of your faith in relationships, and somebody comes along and restores your faith.' Another example, 'Girly Girl World,' is a track offering a 'kind of tongue-in-cheek look at some of the role models in female culture' and it paints the picture of 'the kind of world that Kim Kardashian would influence.'

Both songs will be performed on Friday, said Newitt, who added the video for 'Restore' debuts Friday on YouTube.

Newitt is the sister of Jamie Newitt, the drummer for the Florida band, The Heavy Pets.
