Archmere Swimmers Earn Sweep

NEWS JOURNAL: Archmere put together a strong team performance in both the boys’ and girls’ meets to sweep host St. Andrew’s in nonconference swimming action Saturday. The Auks won eight of 11 events to edge the Saints 93-77 in the boys’ competition as the duo of Drew Cox and Ben Creekmore won two individual races and helped win two relay races for Archmere.

The Auks won eight of 11 events to edge the Saints 93-77 in the boys’ competition as the duo of Drew Cox and Ben Creekmore won two individual races and helped win two relay races for Archmere.

“This is always one of the biggest meets of the year, and St. Andrew’s is a great opponent. We have a tough rivalry with them,” Cox said. “I say the main thing that put us in front was our practice attendance, and we were churning out second through fifth place spots.”

Cox won the 200 freestyle in 1:57:13 and the 100 freestyle in 52.16. Cox joined Creekmore, Corey Manley and Thomas Hamilton to win the 200 medley relay in 1:48.18. Cox, Creekmore, Manley and Christopher Curcio won the 400 freestyle relay.

In addition to his two relay victories, Creekmore earned victories in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly. The other victories for Archmere came from Hamilton in the 100 breaststroke and Manley in the 100 backstroke....Read the full story here.
