Senior AUK Lacrosse Goalie Davis Russell was named "Athlete of the Week" by the News Journal after he made six saves in an 18-2 win over Wilmington Christian on April 9, then had nine saves in a 16-4 win over Brandywine last Wednesday and 17 saves in a 13-8 victory at Worcester Prep (Md.) on Friday. Russell began playing lacrosse in third grade. He started as a defensive midfielder but was then thrown into goalkeeper responsibilities. “I enjoy it now. I didn’t enjoy it so much when I started,” Russell said of switching positions. “He knows the game very well, and he understands it,” Archmere coach Noel Breger said. “He understands his position and the position of the defense as well to make life easy, so he calls a very good game.” Click here to read more!
