Counseling Staff Members Engage in Professional Outreach
Ms. Francesca Pileggi, Counseling Intern, is a member of the Pennsylvania Suicide Prevention Coalition's Board of Directors and chairs the Communication Committee. On October 16th and 17th, she attended the statewide Pennsylvania Suicide Prevention Conference in State College.
Mrs. Carolyn Doyle, Director of Guidance and College Counseling, attended the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) annual conference in Toronto Canada in September. As Past President of Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling, one of twenty-three affiliates in the nation, Carolyn served as Chief Delegate for the affiliate's fourteen delegates. Delegates of each affiliate attend the "Assembly" where recommended revisions to the Statement of Principles of Good Practice are discussed and voted upon.
Mrs. Deborah Oleck, Archmere Academy Learning Specialist, is scheduled to attend a workshop at Pilot School entitled, Smart But Scattered: Executive Function at Home and at School given by Dr. Richard Guare. He is the author of the book Smart But Scattered. Topics include the role executive function plays in healthy development and to identify tools and strategies to assist students become successful problem solvers and self-reliant adults.Ms. Oleck has also been asked to conduct a workshop on organization and study skills for Serviam Girls’ Academy. Topics to be covered are long and short term planning, organization and strategies for successful transition to high school.
