The Girls' Varsity Basketball team had a big win last night in their second round playoff game against Smyrna and will move on to the quarter finals at the Bob Carpenter Center tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.
News Journal Reports: Katelyn Payne scored 17 points and Amanda Olsen added 15 as Archmere absorbed a Smyrna barrage bridging the first and second halves, only to pull away for a 47-36 victory Thursday in the second round of the DIAA Girls Basketball State Tournament.Tenth-seeded Archmere (17-5) advances to play No. 2 Sanford, a 73-23 winner against Lake Forest, in a quarterfinal game at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bob Carpenter Center. Smyrna finishes its season at 15-6.
“This is going to be an amazing experience for all of us, and we’re all so excited,” Olsen said. “Our seniors, including the rest of the team, but our seniors have worked so hard for the past four years, and we’ve waited for this all of our lives.”
