No 1. Girls' Soccer, No. 4 Boys' Lacrosse Both Advance With Wins Wednesday

Top-seeded Archmere Girls' soccer shutout Delmarva Christian in their quarterfinal match yesterday, 3-0. Meanwhile, fourth-seeded Boys' lacrosse sent Caravel packing with a 19-8 first-round victory.
The Lady Auks got off to a great start, as junior Kassidy McVey '15 scored two goals in the first half (13'/24'). Junior teammate Gillian Sweeney '15 put the game all but out of reach for Delmarva Christian, scoring in the 57th minute. Senior goalkeeper Anna D'Eramo '14 recorded three saves, as the Lady Auks won by shutting out their opponent for the eleventh time this season. Archmere will face the winner of this afternoon's quarterfinal match between No. 4 Wilmington Friends and No. 5 Sanford.

The fourth-seeded Boys' lacrosse team moved on the Quarterfinal round of the DIAA State tournament yesterday afternoon, winning in convincing fashion against No. 10 Caravel, 19-8. The Auks outscored Caravel 13-5 in the second half, and have earned a rematch against No. 2 Cape Henlopen on Saturday afternoon. Cape handed Archmere a tough 13-10 loss back on April 5 of the regular season. Archmere will look to upset the higher seeded Vikings and advance to the Semifinals.
