Archmere Goalkeeper Blake Parker '17 Makes Headlines With Win Over St. Elizabeth's
With a save in the final minute by Archmere goalkeeper Blake Parker '17, the Auks soccer team claimed a 2-1 victory over St. Elizabeth's on Tuesday afternoon. Archmere, now 7-3, held their lead with the help of Blake, who had ten saves throughout the game. Kevin Phillips, writer for The News Journal, writes that "Archmere goalkeeper Blake Parker was tested throughout the Auks' nonconference boys' soccer battle...Parker stood up to the challenge by making ten saves, including one in the final minute, to help Archmere hold off the Vikings for a 2-1 victory at Alapocas Run State Park."
Blake is quoted as saying, "You have to stay mentally tough. When you're getting a lot of shots thrown at you, and they're working you physically, you have to stay positive and believe in your team. If that happens, everything will come through at the end."
Archmere's two goals were scored by junior Sean Murray and sophomore Zach Dainton.
