Swimmers Place 5th and 8th in Championship Meet

Out of 27 teams, the Archmere girls swim team placed 5th in the state in the 2016 Delaware DIAA State Championship Meet this weekend. Ellie Jogani '16 cruised to her first state title of the night in 1:51.98 in the first individual event of the evening, the 200 free. In the women’s 100 free, Ellie grabbed her second title of the night in 51.89, three seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Lilly Quinn '17 placed 7th in the 100 fly and 5th in the 100 back. Sarah Mousley '18 placed 12th in the 200 IM and 14th in the 500 free. Sydney Aitken '19 placed 9th in the 50 free and 10th in the 100 free, while Emily Lugg '19 finished 12th in the 100 back. The 200 medley relay (Emily Lugg, Anna Baxter, Sarah Mousley, Kyra Giakas) placed 13th overall while both the 200 free relay (Lilly Quinn, Kyra Giakas, Sydney Aitken, Ellie Jogani) and the 400 free relay (Sydney Aitken, Sarah Mousley, Lilly Quinn, Ellie Jogani) claimed 3rd place medals. 

The Archmere boys swim team finished 8th in the state out of 24 teams. Alec Giakas '16 finished 2nd in the 50 free with a time of 21.57 and third in the 100 free with a time of 48.26. Luke Grant '18 placed 16th in both the 200 IM and 100 fly, while Sam Linton '18 placed 7th in 100 fly and Julian Iacono '19 placed 11th. The Archmere 200 medley relay  (Dylan Dramis, Jerry Enverso, Julian Iacono, Ryan Padien) came in 15th place, the 400 free relay (Sam Linton, Julian Iacono, Luke Grant, Alec Giakas) came in 9th place, and the 200 free relay (Ryan Padien, Sam Linton, Luke Grant, Alec Giakas) placed 5th overall.
