Senior Kylie Lavelle Receives St. Timothy National Youth Award

Kylie Lavelle '16 received the St. Timothy National Youth Award from the Diocese of Wilmington last week. The St. Timothy Award is the highest recognition from the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry that a diocese may confer on a junior or senior high school youth who lives as a disciple of Christ, sets a positive example for other youth, witnesses to their faith by exhibiting Catholic morals and integrity, demonstrates Gospel values through service to others, and exhibits Christian leadership in parish, school, and/or community settings.

Kylie was nominated by Theresa Stamegna, her Youth Minister at St. Mary Magdalen Church who had this to say: As a member of Youth Ministry at St. Mary Magdalen, Kylie is truly an ambassador for Christ.  She brings people together and reaches out to all she meets with a kind heart.  Whether it is a family social, a service opportunity, or a youth group gathering, Kylie is always there and helpful to both her peers and adult leaders.

Throughout the years, Kylie has ministered as a Vacation Bible School Counselor, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Youth Leadership Team member, Retreat Leader, and at Service Camp. Kylie’s love for her faith is evident in the way she carries herself and the way she interacts with others.
