Katherine Alberta '19 Performs at Acclaimed Walnut Street Theatre

After spending four weeks training through the Walnut Street Theatre's intensive summer program and performing in an intimate theatre in August, Archmere sophomore Katherine Alberta was given the opportunity to perform on the prestigious mainstage of the oldest theatre in America in Disney's classic, Beauty and the Beast Jr. Katherine played Maurice, Belle’s father, for five shows, each of which sold out the 1100-seat theatre. Beauty and the Beast Jr. is an adaptation of Disney’s classic fairytale movie, which celebrates its 25-year anniversary this year.

The show ran September 24 – October 2, 2016 as the Walnut Street Theatre continued its Theatre for Kids season with a Junior version of Disney's classic musical. All the productions in the Kids' season are especially tailored for children aged grades K-6, simplifying the storyline, adapting the content and cutting down the run time from the original full scale versions.
