Conor McAvinue '17 and Daniel Kim '17 Chosen as Principal Players in the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra

Archmere seniors Conor McAvinue and Daniel Kim were recently selected as principal players for this year's season in the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra. Conor will play principal viola and Daniel the principal cello. All members of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra have to participate in an annual seating audition to determine their placement for the coming year. The string division is by far the most competitive. The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra is the premier youth orchestra on the east coast and one of the best youth orchestras in the nation.

The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra specifically performs at the Kimmel Center, Verizon Hall and the Union League of Philadelphia. This institution has been in existence for 77 years and has had student musicians accepted into the top conservatories and music schools across the nation, including Curtis Institute of Music, the Juilliard School, and Colburn School of Music.
