Swimmers Place 8th and 16th in Championship Meet

Out of 24 teams, the Archmere girls swim team placed 8th in the state in the 2017 Delaware DIAA State Championship Meet this weekend. Senior Lily Quinn placed 5th in 100 Yard Butterfly and 6th in 100 Yard Backstroke. Junior Sarah Mousley finished 13th in the 500 Yard Freestyle, and sophomore Emily Lugg finished 14th in 100 Yard Butterfly and 9th in 100 Yard Backstroke. Freshman Chelsey Liu placed 9th in the 200 Yard Freestyle and cruised to a first place title in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 53.13. The 200 Yard Medley Relay (Quinn, Mousley, Lugg and Liu) finished 8th and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (Mousley, Lugg, Quinn and Liu) placed 4th in the state. Both Lilly Quinn '17 and Chelsey Liu '20 were named to the First Team All State for Archmere swimming. Lily Quinn is a four time All State team member, and this is her third consecutive year selected to the First Team.

The Archmere boys swim team finished 16th in the state out of 26 teams. Junior Sam Linton placed 11th in the 200 free and 7th in fly. Sophomore Julian Iacono placed 9th in fly. The  200 Free relay (Linton, Iacono, Maddox, Padien) finished 11th and the 400 Free relay (Linton, Maddox, Hendrixson, Padien) finished 16th. Honorable Mention All State was awarded to Sam Linton '18.
