Tully Liu '19 and Emily Lugg '19 PSBR Essay Contest Winners
The Pennsylvania Society for Biomedical Research (PSBR) aims to educate the public, including students and teachers in grades K-16, about biomedical research and the vital role the responsible use of animals plays in improving the quality of both human and animal health. PSBR seeks to provide facts to permit individuals or the public to form independent opinions and conclusions about the necessity and benefits of utilizing animals in scientific research.
The PSBR Essay Contest recognizes students who artfully demonstrate a superior understanding of the connection between their life and biomedical research (including the need for animals in that research). This year Archmere sophomores Tully Liu and Emily Lugg have been named winners of the Essay Contest. Tully's essay was awarded "Grand Essayist" in the high school essay contest, and Emily's essay was awarded "Finalist".
As one of only two students awarded “Grand Essayist”, Tully will receive a certificate and a $500 check. Emily's essay was one of four to be awarded “Finalist”, and she will receive a certificate and a check for $250.
