The Delaware High School Mock Trial Competition took place on March 5 and 6, 2026 at the Leonard L. Williams Justice Center. The two Archmere teams were awarded 4th and 5th place in the competition. Both Varsity and JV teams progressed through three victories and a narrow defeat in the semifinal round.
Saturday, March 7, was a proud day for Archmere Academy’s science program as 26 students represented the school at the Delaware Science Olympiad Tournament.
The Cappies, "Critics and Awards Program," is a program through which high school theater and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, and publish those reviews in local newspapers such as The Washington Post, Cincinnati Enquirer, Dallas Morning News, Kansas City Star, and The Philadelphia Inquirer. The Cappies program brought over 40 students from the Greater Philadelphia area to Archmere this past weekend to review the winter musical production, “The Drowsy Chaperone”.
The Archmere Swim Team competed in the DIAA Swimming & Diving Championship Finals on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The State Preliminaries were held during the week, with Finals taking place all day Saturday at the University of Delaware. The State Championship Meet is a qualifying meet, and sixteen members of the Archmere team competed in the Prelims, at which several members earned a spot in Finals. In addition, Archmere freshman Elizabeth Guo was chosen to sing the National Anthem at the boys’ preliminaries.
Youth Art Month is an annual observance each year to emphasize the value of art and art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs. It is observed in March, administered by the Council for Art Education (CFAE), with thousands of American schools participating. Often, local art museums and civic organizations are involved in promoting the work. The 2025/2026 theme is “The World Needs Art”.
The Archmere robotics team "RobAUKtics" captured the FIRST Robotics Delaware FTC Championship this weekend, capping off a day defined by preparation, adaptability and teamwork.
For the 2025-2026 season, Archmere Academy basketball dominated the Diamond State Athletic Conference (DSAC), with seniors Bridget Malloy and Johnny Orsini named Players of the Year. Both teams secured major honors, including 1st Team selections for Anaya Mungin (Girls) and Khaleef Wilson (Boys), highlighting a strong, championship-focused season.
The 2025-26 Delaware high school indoor track and field season came to a close on Saturday, February 21 in Philadelphia, PA. The DIAA Championships were held at the University of Pennsylvania's Ott Center, a roughly $70 million facility that opened last December. The Ott Center has a 200-meter banked track, two jumps runways, two pole vault runways and seating for more than 1,000 spectators. With 14 individual qualifiers across 10 events, Archmere was proudly represented from sprints to distance to field events... and the record books got an update!
Archmere seniors Kabir Goyal, Chloe Li, Michael Liu, Daniel Qi, Valentina Ramos, Angela Zhang and Audrey Zou have met all requirements to advance to the Finalist standing of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) after being named Semifinalists in September 2025. These academically talented seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships worth more than $26 million that will be offered to the winners. The selection of approximately 6,870 Merit Scholarship award winners from the group of nearly 15,000 will be decided in March.
Scholastics Gold Key Award winners Michael Mallozzi '26 and Rebecca Wang '26 are recipients of the newest art honor, the Howard Pyle Studio Award. The Howard Pyle Studio Group is a non-profit organization located at 1305 North Franklin St., Wilmington, DE, which preserves Pyle's original 1900 studio. Michael won First Place for his painting “Backstage Huddle”, and Rebecca won Second Place for her mixed media piece “Modern Ocean”.
It was aother great night under the lights at The Armory in the Big Apple at hte Purple Champion High School Invitational! The Archmere record book was rewritten by Josh Cox in the Shot Put with a throw of 47-2.5, which was good enough for 3rd overall and a qualifier for Indoor Nationals. Marlise Harris lowered her own school record in the 200m with a time of 26.85. Finally, the girls set a new school record in the Sprint Medley Relay (C. DePalma, K. Iroha, M. Harris, R. Horsey) with a time of 4:21.04 which also qualified them for Indoor Nationals. Kindred Ballard finished 3rd overall in the Shot Put and Ella Taggart won the unseeded section of the 1600m.
On February 14th, the first ever Diamond State Athletic Conference Swim Championships were held at McKean High School. The Archmere swim program delivered an outstanding performance at the Championships on Saturday afternoon; the girls' team placed third overall, and the boys team placed 4th. Five Auks earned individual podium finishes (1st-3rd), and five relay teams reached the podium.
In this year's Scholastic Writing Awards, Archmere students earned a record number fifty-seven awards across several different categories, including: Personal Essay and Memoir, Poetry, Short Story, Writing Portfolio, Flash Fiction, Humor, and the Critical Essay. Submitted work was reviewed and recognized by a panel of creative professionals, and awarded for its outstanding merit in originality, skill, and the emergence of your personal voice and vision.
Archmere senior Bridget Malloy scored her 1,000th basketball point, hitting the milestone in the first half of the game against Padua on Tuesday evening, February 10th. Bridget is the fifth player in Archmere history to hit 1,000 points; most recently Bridget's former teammate, Lucy Oliver, hit 1,000 in February 2024.
Archmere found itself down by 11 points with a few minutes remaining in the third quarter, but the Auks turned the tables in the final quarter. They outscored visiting Lake Forest, 20-5 to take a 48-37 boys Senior Day basketball victory on February 7th at home in the Moglia Fieldhouse.
During each Catholic Schools Week since 2017, Archmere Academy presents the Carl S. Campion Service Award to a member of the Archmere community in recognition of their dedicated service with consistent, selfless giving for the school community, and a commitment to the many facets of Archmere life. Character, dedication, integrity, and humility have defined the lifelong service of Mr. Campion and this year's recipient, Head of School Dr. Michael Marinelli '76, has similarly left his indelible mark on the Archmere community.
At Ursuline's Laffey-McHugh Gymnasium on February 2nd, the Archmere girls basketball team took on the Raiders in an exciting matchup in front of a spirited crowd. Ursuline took a three-point lead over Archmere seconds into the second half, but the Auks responded with the next 10 points and went on to a 45-36 win over the Raiders.
Congratulations to Archmere senior Cassius Hearn, whose ceramic piece, Braids N' Ways, was accepted into the national 2026 K-12 Ceramic Exhibition. Created last spring in the Ceramics elective at Archmere, Braids N' Ways was selected by the juror for inclusion in this year's Annual National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition in Detroit, MI, from March 25th to March 27th. There, it will be seen by thousands of visitors from all over the world, many of whom will be in Detroit for the NCECA conference.
Artist Residency grants are for residencies with visual, literary, performing or media artists working with students in the classroom or in professional development workshops with teachers. The Archmere Art & Design Department was recently awarded a Delaware Division of the Arts Artist in Residency Grant. Internationally acclaimed artist Jeff Schaller will work with the Archmere Painting and AP Studio Art classes next month during the on site Artist Residency on campus.
Archmere Academy Drama Club presents its winter musical, The Drowsy Chaperone. With book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar, and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, the comedy that happens to be a musical, took the Tony Awards by storm in 2006. Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Golden Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.
The Archmere girls basketball team kept the defensive heat against Sun Valley in a 60-38 win on January 31st. It was the team’s fifth win in the past six games. The Auks’ first basket was scored by Maddie Benson after a steal, the first of many points off turnovers for Archmere. Anaya Mungin smothered the Vanguards’ ball handlers all afternoon, while Maddie Benson and the other forwards clogged up the middle, often forcing Sun Valley into unwanted shots.
Since 1910, Scouting American (formally Boys Scouts of America), has been providing opportunities for the American youth in a wide array of educational skills that help to build the future leaders within our communities, society, and world. Scouts learn these skills through hands-on activities, like camping, fire building, nature conservation, medical preparedness, community service, and much more.
Sixty Archmere Academy Art Students Recognized with 134 Individual Awards & 8 Portfolio Awards in 2026 Scholastic Art Competition, winning the most awards of any school in the State of Delaware for the 6th Consecutive Year!
Tapestry 2025, the Archmere Academy Student Literary Magazine, has been recognized as a First Class magazine by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). Published annually, Tapestry is a student run literary and fine arts magazine, supported and advised by Archmere English Teacher Mr. Stephen Klinge. 2025 senior editors were Caileigh Crane, Lilian Domenico, Elisa Small and Meredith Victoria. This year, schools in 44 states and five countries nominated 456 student magazines.
Both the 9th grade and 10th-12th Math League teams finished very strong in the regional competition!
Delaware Secondary Math League concluded this year's regular season on Wednesday, January 21st, after four regional meets held once a month from October to January.
On Friday night, January 15th, the Archmere track and field team competed at the Steve Borbet Invitational, held at The Armory in NYC. Three school records fell as Marlise Harris lowered the 200m mark with a 27.03 (10th overall), while Riley Horsey shattered two long-standing records—placing 4th in the 800m (2:21.48) and breaking a 15-year-old record in the mile with a 5:10.69. Capping off the night, Kindred Ballard claimed the win in the girls shot put with a throw of 36-01.75—now 2-for-2 at The Armory this season!
The Helena Raskob Arts Institute congratulates six Archmere students who auditioned for and were accepted to the Delaware All State Orchestra, sponsored by Delaware Music Educators Association. Avkaash Chevli ‘29 placed in first chair for Violin II, and Kathrine Wang ‘27 will serve as first chair for Viola. McKayla Hwang ‘27 is second chair for Violin I, with Joseph Zhang ‘29, Allison Qu ‘27, and Elizabeth Guo ‘29 also in the violin sections.
On January 3, 2026, Raphael Lombardi '29 competed in a major chess tournament held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square, New York City. The event attracted more than 1,400 registrants from across the tri-state area. Raphael earned first place overall in the Under 1200 High School Section, finishing with a perfect 5–0 score.
Cecil College's Green and Gold High School Holiday Basketball Tournament brought together local basketball programs for two days of high school basketball over Christmas. Beginning with bracket play on December 29th, followed by consolation and championship match ups, the tournament was broken down between "gold" and "green" brackets across both boys’ and girls’ tournaments. The Archmere boys’ basketball team competed in the green bracket.
Last weekend at the 32nd Annual Hispanic Games, the Archmere winter track and field team recorded nine new Archmere All-Time Top 10 Performances and one new school record! Congratulations to Kindred Ballard, who set a NEW SCHOOL RECORD and took 1st overall in the Shot Put (37-03.5).
