Football Earns Hard-Fought Homecoming Victory Over Wilmington Friends

Archmere football capped Homecoming weekend with a hard-fought 21-13 victory over Wilmington Friends School on Saturday, October 10. In a closely contested matchup, the Auks made key plays on both sides of the ball to secure the win.
The Auks struck first late in the opening quarter when quarterback Shane Harding '28 connected with Kevin Kozicki '28 on an 85-yard touchdown pass. Wilmington Friends answered to tie the game, and the teams battled through a defensive stretch before Archmere regained the lead late in the third quarter. Wyatt Beekley '28 found the end zone on a fourth-down run to put the Auks ahead.

The Quakers responded with a touchdown of their own, but a missed extra point left Archmere with a one-point advantage. With the game still in the balance, the Auks’ defense delivered a crucial fourth-down stop, setting up the offense for a decisive drive in the final minutes.

Nate Blessington '28 capped the drive with a two-yard touchdown run with 1:45 remaining, extending the lead to 21-13. The defense held firm on Wilmington Friends’ final possession to secure the Homecoming victory.
Beekley led the Auks with 50 rushing yards, while Harding completed three passes for 110 yards. Maxxwell Chapman '29, Chase Lengkeek '27, and Luke Luzader '28 each recorded seven tackles.

The win improved Archmere’s record to 4-1. The Auks return to action Saturday, October 17, with a noon matchup at Mount Pleasant.
