Senior Cece Knapp Facilitates Merit Badge College on Archmere's Campus

Since 1910, Scouting American (formally Boys Scouts of America), has been providing opportunities for the American youth in a wide array of educational skills that help to build the future leaders within our communities, society, and world. Scouts learn these skills through hands-on activities, like camping, fire building, nature conservation, medical preparedness, community service, and much more.
Scouts earn merit badges which symbolized their understanding and mastery of these new skills. Each Scout's goal is to achieve the top rank of Eagle Scout which requires twenty-one merit badges, like Cooking, Personal Fitness, Personal (Financial) Management, and Citizenship in the World. Out of over 1 million current Scouts, only about 4% earn the rank of Eagle each year. Some notable Scouts include President Gerald Ford, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, and astronaut Neil Armstrong.

In the spring of 2025, Cece Knapp ‘26 and the AuksScouts club thought of an idea - help Scouts from different troops from the Tri-State area earn these merit badges. CeCe and other members began a year long planning process to bring a merit badge college to Archmere Academy. They worked closely with different Scout Councils, the Archmere administration/marketing teams, and different troops to offer an opportunity to local scouts to earn a few new merit badges and get closer to the rank of Eagle. Over two different weekends, one in November and the other in January, Scouts entered the halls of St. Norbert to learn different life skills which will help shape them into the future compassionate leaders of the communities, nation, and world.

Cece is in the final steps of the Eagle Scout process as they prepare and plan their Eagle Scout projects. She will soon be part of that small but prestigious group that call themselves Eagle Scouts.
