On Wednesday, May 2, the Archmere Girls' Lacrosse team took on Padua at home in a thrilling match, defeating them 16-11. After Padua started out quick with 2 goals, Archmere was able to find their rhythm and compete in a nail biting back and forth match until after halftime, when the Auks began a 5 goal run that Padua could not follow. Archmere junior Kate Olsen led the team with 6 goals. Fellow junior Caroline Donovan and senior Olivia Baldi both contributed hat tricks.
Kevin Hayes of WDEL quotes Kate Olsen '19 as saying, "In the beginning, we weren't clicking as a team," said Olsen. "The only thing we were doing well was transition and Padua really stuck with us with the first 'three quarters' you could say. At the end, we pulled through and worked as a team."
The Auks, now 9-2, have only lost to the current top two ranked teams. They take on Ursuline Academy today (May 4) at 3:45 on Serviam Field.
