Artwork by Lauren Chua '18 on Special Display in Washington, DC
2018 Archmere graduate Lauren Chua was awarded a National Gold Key for her acrylic painting "Reflections" this Spring. Only about 150 National Gold Keys are awarded by the National Scholastics Scholarship Art Awards Program. Lauren was honored onstage at Carnegie Hall in July, and her painting is one of only 80 works of art in the country selected from the National Scholastics Exhibition for a special Art.Wrtite.Now show at the Department of Education in Washington, D.C.
In partnership with the U.S. Department of Education, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, Art.Write.Now.DC is on display from September 14, 2018, through August 9, 2019. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards invite exhibiting students with their educators and guests to an opening ceremony in Washington, D.C., on Friday, September 14, 2018. Students and educators are also invited to join a creative workshop on the day of the ceremony.
Through the Awards, students receive opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships. Students across America submitted nearly 350,000 original works this year in 29 different categories of art and writing.
