It’s fall application and meeting session time in the College Counseling Office. All seniors are required to meet with their college counselor to finalize their application plan as October 15th and November 1st deadlines are right around the corner. Over the next six weeks, the Office will process approximately 1,000 application requests.
We will also host ~140 college admission representatives to Archmere. Juniors and Seniors are welcome and encouraged to attend these session. A list of visits can be found on Naviance.
Upcoming College Counseling Programs
Our Test Prep Night is this Thursday, September 20th at 7 pm in the SLC. We will welcome Chris Ryan ’87 back to campus. Chris works for Manhattan Prep and shares a wonderful message of thoughtful test preparation. Chris will discuss the SAT, the ACT, and the differences in the tests. He will also emphasize growth mindset concepts. The program is primarily for juniors and their families, however, sophomore families are also more than welcome to attend.
Senior parents are invited to attend the Financial Aid Night on Thursday, October 11th at 7 pm in the SLC. The program’s focus is on the FAFSA and CSS Profile. Registration information will be emailed out in the coming days.
Juniors will be required to attend their annual College Panel on Tuesday, November 13th at 7 pm in the SLC. The panel presentation is also open to families of juniors and all members of the Archmere community. We will welcome five college admission representatives from popular Archmere schools to discuss the college search and admission process. Following this program juniors will begin to meet individually with their college counselor.
National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) Annual Conference
Mr. Boehm and Ms. Souza will be traveling to Salt Lake City in late September to participate in our association’s annual conference. Mr. Boehm is a member of the Professional Development Committee and will also be presenting an educational session with the dean of admission from Syracuse and director of college counseling from The Hill School. The conference is attended by over 5,000 admission professionals and includes a counselor college fair with over 500 colleges from around the world.
