Professional Photographer Jim Graham Speaks to Archmere Art Students 

On November 18, professional photographer Jim Graham presented an Artist Lecture as part of the school's C Day programming. Jim
 discussed his latest book, "Bound to the Country, 30 Years Photographing Mr. Stewart’s Cheshire Foxhounds” published by Brilliant Graphics which covered his 30-year photography series. Since 2007, Jim has also traveled to Greenland and Iceland documenting the melting and movement of glaciers, creating an environmentally-sensitive photo essay. Jim also shared his artistic philosophy and strategies for working in series and sustaining a creative thematic investigation, as Archmere's AP students are preparing to launch their very own self-designed, inquiry-driven Advanced Placement Studio Art Sustained Investigation portfolio project.
Amanda Treston '22 Takes First in Delaware Speech and Debate Association State Tournament

Archmere junior Amanda Treston won the Delaware Speech and Debate Association State Tournament last month, held virtually on October 31. Amanda took first place across 22 total entries in 7 divisions.

The Debate topics:  
Lincoln-Douglas debate – 2020 September/October topic
Resolved: in a democracy, voting ought to be compulsory.
 
Public forum debate – 2020 September/October topic area: healthcare
Resolved: the united states federal government should enact the Medicare-for-all act of 2019.

Counseling Department Presented The Upstanders to Archmere Student Body

Bullying and cyber-bullying is such an important topic, which why the entire student body watched The Upstanders earlier this month. This documentary explores the brain science behind bullying and cyber-bullying among friends, families, and co-workers, and shows us how we can learn to make a difference to create systemic change.

Annual Christmas Concert Held in the Quad

On Friday, November 20th, the Archmere Performing Arts Department held their Annual Christmas Concert outside in the Quad. Watch our Choir, Mastersingers, and Instrumental Musicians light up the night with their beautiful music on the Archmere Academy YouTube channel.
