The Archmere indoor track and field team has competed in several big meets this winter, racking up personal best times and setting several school records. The team, coached by Archmere teachers Mr. JR Creekmore and Mr. Mark Hannagan, boasts 34 members on the boys roster and 38 students for the girls.
Several Archmere athletes have achieved personal best times this season, and the following have broken Archmere school records:
Alex Im '22 ran the 400m in 55.22, breaking the previous 400m record of 56.41 set in 2016
The 4x200m relay of Kenny Adenusi '22, Alex Im '22, Ben Mongare '23, and Dylan Addo '22 ran a time of 1:35.72, breaking the previous record 1:44.00 set in 2016
The DMR (distance medley relay) girls team of Anna Benner '24, Gia Giorgianni '24, Maddie Priest '24, and Ryan Vitola '23 were 5th overall at Alvernia with a record breaking time of 14:32.00. The boys team of Julian Facciolo '23, Jack Chesman '25, Josh Ponzio '23, and Alex Holt '23 ran to a school record of 12:43.96.
Gavin Lee '24 broke the previous high jump school record of 5-2 set in 2017 by Antwyne Scott-Coleman with a leap of 5-6
Jane Willin '24 made headlines when she improved her personal best in the high jump at Tower Hill last weekend, recording a 5-4 jump, which ties her for 1st in the state and 2nd all time for Archmere behind former State Champion, Abby Kates '20.
