Maura Read '25 Nets Another Hat Trick, Leads Field Hockey to Quarterfinals

Archmere junior Maura Read recorded her first goal with 9:04 remaining in the first half of the DIAA State Tournament on November 1. The Auks, seeded sixth in a round of twelve teams, defeated Delaware Military Academy at home on the lower turf. Maura went on to score two more in that half to notch another hat trick. Ava Hughes '24 was critical in goal, and the Archmere defense allowed just nine shots to secure the 6-1 win over DMA in a DIAA Division II field hockey first-round state tournament game.
The Auks outshot the Seahawks, 14-9, although DMA earned 10 penalty corners to Archmere’s 8. Archmere advances to the quarterfinal game at #3 Caravel on Saturday at 11 a.m.
