Cross Country Tops Off Successful Season with 2nd and 5th Place in the State Championships
On Saturday, November 11, the Archmere cross country team competed at the DIAA State Championships at Brandywine Creek State Park. Following a 3rd place finish at the New Castle County Championships, the girls took home 2nd place in the state, competing incredibly well against a very talented Tatnall team, who would eventually win the meet. They were led by captain Maddie Priest ‘24, who took home 10th place overall and earned All-State honors. Notable finishes also included Helen Socorso ’25, who took home 12th place in the state, and Alaina Thomas '27, who took home 13th place her first year competing for Archmere.
The boys also had a noteworthy season, edging out DSAC conference rivals DMA and Newark Charter. Camilo Alvarez ’24 placed 9th overall, recording a 17:22.60 time on the tough course and earning All-State honors. Owen Parsons '26 placed 20th overall, while Richie Angiullo '25 placed 23rd.
