Senior Lindsey Olivere blazes own trail

Senior track star Lindsey Olivere blazes her own trail while following in the fast footsteps of her family.
From Delaware Online: Lindsey Olivere, descended from two of Delaware's most prominent running families, continues to make a name for herself in her final track season at Archmere Academy.

A self-proclaimed late starter at running, Olivere focused on soccer until she was a middle school student at St. Mary Magdalen. Up to then, she had been an Olympic Development-level player.

Around that time came the no-pressure suggestion from her parents, Paul and Linda (Marini), to "Just try track," she said.
Not surprisingly, she and running hit it off quite well.

"It was kind of getting to the point where I was getting pushed around a lot on the soccer field because I was so much smaller than everybody else," said Olivere, still a rather slight 5-foot-2. "I just tried this running thing and I said, 'I feel like I'm better at this than soccer.'"

She has since become one of the most accomplished runners in her family, which makes her one of the state's finest ever.
