Archmere Field Hockey Undefeated: Senior Elyse Andrews highlighted in News Journal

From the News Journal — Tuesday was Senior Day for the Archmere Academy field hockey team, and senior Elyse Andrews wanted to make sure her last regular-season home game was special.

It was.

Andrews pumped in five goals – including the first four of the game – and added an assist as the top-ranked Auks rolled past 10th-ranked Red Lion Christian 10-0.

“The motivation of knowing that this could potentially be our last game ever on this turf kind of motivated us,” Andrews said. “We have 11 seniors, and we’ve been working hard since the end of last season.”

Andrews scored just four minutes in off an assist from Alexandra Beatson, and deftly worked the ball about the goalie for another score five minutes later. But the highlight came halfway through the first half when Andrews took Amanda Vaile’s pass, spun around and scored on a backhand.
