From The Daily News — When state Sen. Majority Leader Dominic F. Pileggi was growing up, he looked up to his paternal grandfather, who immigrated to the United States from Italy.
“It was the classic immigrant story,” said Pileggi during an interview on his 54th birthday earlier this month at his Glen Mills district office. “He came here with the clothes on his back and couldn’t even speak English and was able to start a family and run a successful contracting business. He was a very hardworking, family centered guy who really covered a lot of ground.”
Pileggi, a Chester native, recalled how his late grandfather, also named Dominic Pileggi, was one of the most influential people in his life.
