Candidate's Statement:
I would like to volunteer my time to the alumni council for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, a council membership would allow me to give back to Archmere Academy, the institution that I credit with providing me with a terrific education, a strong moral compass, and a lifetime of close friends. I would be an asset to the council because I enjoy the challenges of dedication, commitment to change agents, and the chance for me to serve as a bridge between Archmere and its dedicated alumni.
Archmere has played a big role in my family. I have three older brothers who graduated from Archmere: Dan ‘74, Ed ‘75, and Jim ‘78. When I entered first grade in 1970, my brother entered Archmere, and the tradition continued until 1982 when I graduated, but the Archmere legacy within the family did not stop there. After college, my future wife and I became engaged, and we immediately asked our close friend, and spiritual advisor, Fr. Joseph Mc Laughlin, to celebrate our wedding. Fr. McLaughlin baptized our children, and remains an important figure in our lives. His friendship, and his example and his commitment to Archmere inspire me to seek this position on alumni council. In addition, the timing of this greater involvement that I seek is better than ever for me. Adrianne and I are empty nesters. I feel that now I have the time to dedicate to the alumni council, to do the job right. I am willing to get involved, ideally on the Student-Alumni Relations Committee or the Young Alumni Committee. As someone who earns a living in higher education, I bring valuable experience to alumni council.
