Junior Sean Deely was featured in the News Journal's article titled "Prep Baseball: Sean Deely keys Archmere's complete effort," which highlighted his performance in the 10-2 win over Tower Hill at Ruly Carpenter Stadium last week.
"On Thursday, the Archmere baseball team displayed some ingredients that could make the Auks a threat in postseason play. Archmere flashed some power hitting, power pitching and airtight defense in closing its regular season with a 10-2 win over Tower Hill at Ruly Carpenter Stadium. Next up is the DIAA Baseball State Tournament, which begins Tuesday.
“We think we’re ready,” Auks coach Chuck Clausius said. “For the last five or six weeks, our pitching has been really good. We made some changes to our defense, and we’ve caught the ball better. Our approaches at the plate have been great, and, collectively, from top to bottom one through 17, we’ve found a way to grind through the close games.”
Sean Deely certainly appears to be ready. The 6-foot-5 junior struck out seven in four innings and unleashed a three-run homer as part of a four-RBI day. “He’s a special kid,” Clausius said of Deely. “He’s got a skill set that not too many kids have. He can hit, and on the mound he’s one of the best in the state. And he’s only going to get better because of his age. He’s only a junior.”
