Archmere Teams Earn Top Spots at Science Olympiad

Sixty teams competed at the state science olympiad this year.  The two teams from Archmere finished third and sixth out of the 60 teams. Many Archmere students earned medals in many different events.  The following medals were won at the competition by Archmere students: 

5th place in Geologic Mapping: Nick Costa '14 and Jonathan Lobo '14
8th place in Geologic Mapping: Alison Lobo '17 and Makala Wang '17
7th place in Technical Problem Solving: Matt Oslin and Brian Zhang '14
3rd place in Write It Do It: Beth Burton '14 and Justine Zhang '14
5th place in Adventures in Agriculture: Payas Parab '15 and Rob Focht '15
2nd place in Chemistry Lab: Justine Zhang '14 and Matt Oslin '15
9th place in Chemistry Lab: Greg McCord '16
3rd place in Compound Machines: Brian Zhang '14 and Nick Costa '14
6th place in Designer Genes: Jessica Zbranak '16 and Rahul Subbaraya '16

Several Archmere students also participated in the opening round of the Physics Olympiad. Three students have qualified for the semifinals of this program: Mark Melvin '15, Matt Oslin '15, and Brian Zhang '14.
