Archmere Rugby Advances to Delaware High School Sevens State Championship
With an 11-2 record this season, Archmere's Rugby team will play in the Rugby Delaware High School Sevens State Championship match this Saturday, May 9th, at Neumann University. The championship tournament will be an exciting Sevens day of Ruby between Salesianum School, Central Delaware Rugby Red Storm, and Archmere Academy.
Archmere's Rugby program was founded in 2013 by Associate Director of Admissions and English Teacher Andrew Cocco, along with current parent David Niumataiwalu and with help from science teacher and football coach John Bellace. The Rugby program has grown from 14 kids in its first year to now 26 on the active roster. This is Archmere's first season playing fifteen-a-side rugby in addition to the seven-a-side rugby, which is the style of the league played in Delaware. This will be Archmere's third year in a row competing in the State Championship match.
