Archmere Wins Four Awards at West Chester Theatre Festival

This week, at the West Chester Theatre Festival, Archmere performances brought home four awards. First, the show Intermission (written by Will Eno, same author as Middletown) was well-received by the critics. Emma Stovicek '17 won the Best Actress for the festival for her lovely portrayal of an aging theatre-goer. Along with Emma, Caroline Buck '16, Eli Hunsinger '17, and Matt Etzrodt '17 were all praised for their mature handling of a difficult piece.

Also, the show Checkmate (written by Joe McAlonan '16!) won two awards. Keelin Reilly '17 won Best Supporting Actor for the festival, and Joe earned a Critical Award for Excellence in Writing. The critics could not believe that the show was written by a student, and were impressed by the writing and the excellent execution of the play by the overall ensemble.

Finally, there was an individual audition competition, where students imitated auditioning formats typically used for college theater major auditions. Joe McAlonan '16 won that competition as well.
