Alex Weir ’17 Places Twice in North American Province Irish Music Competition

This summer Archmere senior Alex Weir took part in the 2016 North American Province, Mid-Atlantic Fleadh (pronounced “flah”) Irish music competition in Parsippany, NJ, and brought home two first place trophies for Fiddle Slow Airs and Men’s Singing, which qualified him to compete once again in the World Championships of Irish Music (All Irelands). Alex previously medaled in the All Irelands in Sligo, Ireland in 2014, placing third in the fiddle slow airs and trio competitions. Alex has studied violin since he was 3 years old, and has studied Irish music seriously for the last nine years. He frequently performs in concerts and at festivals.
