Archmere Students Participate in Delaware All State Senior Chorus

Archmere students Katherine Alberta '19, Matt Witterholt '19 and Sarah Burton '17 participated in Delaware All State Senior Chorus last weekend, sponsored by the Delaware Music Educators Association. The DMEA organizes the All-State programs in Delaware for those students who are involved in their school music programs. Current DMEA sponsored All-State organizations include: Orchestra, Jazz Band, Junior Band (7 - 9), Senior Band (10 - 12), Junior Chorus (7 - 8), Senior Chorus (9 - 12) and Women's Choir (9 - 12).

Hundreds of students from schools in the state of Delaware auditioned and were ranked based on their ability to sight-sing, sing scales, and prepare the piece of choral music chosen by the Delaware Music Educator’s Association. Sophomore Katherine Alberta was selected for the Treble Choir, conducted by the acclaimed Dr. Deanna Joseph, while sophomore Matt Witterholt and senior Sarah Burton were selected for Mixed Choir, conducted by the reputable Kevin O’Brien. The choirs met for brief regional rehearsals in early January and February but learned the majority of the music at their full-day rehearsals on February 23rd and 24th, when they congregated with their conductor for the first time. The experience concluded with a combined concert at Cab Calloway School of the Arts on Saturday, February 25th.
