November 1st is the largest of the early application deadlines and approximately 90% of students will have submitted an application by this date. Most colleges and universities will begin reading applications in early to mid-November with hopes of releasing decisions before Christmas.
A very few number of rolling admission schools have already begun making decisions and a handful of seniors have been informed, in their words, “are going to college!” Programming
Chris Ryan ’87 presented to an audience of almost 100 parents and students at our Test Prep Workshop on September 27th. His positive message of keeping a Growth Mindset regarding testing, school, and co-curricular activities was extremely refreshing. His presentation can be found here.
Varo Duffins, Director of Financial Aid at Swarthmore presented at our annual Early Financial Aid Night to about 35 parents of seniors. His discussion was primarily about the FAFSA and CSS Profile and how and why colleges use these forms. If parents of seniors have any financial aid questions they are encouraged to contact the financial aid offices at the colleges their students are applying to. They are also invited to contact College Counseling.
Junior College Panel Night
November 15th at 7pm is our Junior College Panel Night. All members of the Archmere junior class are required to attend as we kick off your college searches. All parents are welcome to attend. The program is in the SLC. We welcome five college admission representatives to discuss the college search, application, and selection process. The representatives will answer questions from the College Counseling Office and the audience. Individual meetings with the class will begin in December.
