Julia Kochie '20 Helps Advance Girls' Volleyball to Quarterfinals

In the second round of the DIAA Volleyball State Tournament on November 4, Archmere's volleyball team defeated Smyrna in four close sets. Led by sophomore Julia Kochie, the eighth-seeded Auks won by scores of 24-26, 25-20, 25-17, and 25-18.

News reporter Mike Lang wrote of Julia's performance, "Julia Kochie did a lot of everything for the Auks on Saturday, including going all out for digs." Julia finished the night with 27 kills, 8 aces, 3 blocks, 4 digs and 1 assist. The Auks improved to 11-5 and will meet top-seeded Padua in the second quarterfinal-round match Tuesday at the St. Elizabeth Center.

Julia spoke of the match to The Dialog, saying: “I think we really played as a team at the end. We really brought it together. Our energy got really high, and it just all came together. It was more fun, and we just played so much better.”
