Girls' Basketball Defeats Concord in First Round of DIAA Tournament

In the First Round of the DIAA Girls Basketball Tournament, the Archmere girls' basketball team took on the Concord Raiders at home, winning 61-34. Within the first 11 minutes of the game, Archmere built up a 20 point lead and set the stage to dominate the rest of the night. All 15 players on the team contributed, with eleven different Auks scoring points in the game. Senior Amanda Denning led with 14 points and junior Emma McCann scored 10 points.

Brad Meyers of The News Journal interviewed Coach Dan Pisani after the game and wrote, “I’ve got to give our girls a lot of credit,” Archmere coach Daniel Pisani said. “I really think we’re playing our best basketball as the year goes on. And I thought this was probably the best we’ve been all year.”

The 11th-seeded Auks (13-8) will try to keep it going in the second round versus No. 6 St. Elizabeth at 6:30 p.m. Friday, at St. Elizabeth's.
