The Archmere Swim Team competed in the 2018 DIAA Swimming & Diving Championship Finals on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Out of 27 teams, the boys' team placed 5th overall. The swimmers who competed in individual events at finals were seniors Luke Grant (14th in 50 Yard Freestyle and 16th in 100 Yard Freestyle) and Sam Linton (16th in 200 Yard Freestyle and 9th in 100 Yard Butterfly), junior Julian Iacono (6th in 200 Yard Freestyle and 4th in 100 Yard Butterfly) and freshmen Joe Marino (15th in 100 Yard Backstroke) and Jacob Piretti (14th in 500 Yard Freestyle).
The 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Joe Marino ’21, Nate Hendrixson ’21, Julian Iacono ’19, Ryan Padien ’18 finished 8th; the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team consisting of Sam Linton ’18, James Maddox ’18, Ryan Padien ’18, Luke Grant ’18 placed 3rd; and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Sam Linton ’18, Jacob Piretti ’21, Julian Iacono ’19, Luke Grant ’18 placed 4th. Julian Iacono was selected to the First Team All State, and Sam Linton was selected as Team MVP.
The girls' team of Sarah Mousley ’18, Riley DeBaecke ’19, Emily Lugg ’19 and Anna Garcia ’21 finished 16th overall out of 25 teams. Senior Sarah Mousley finished 11th in the 200 Yard IM, junior Emily Lugg placed 6th in 100 Yard Butterfly and 9th in 100 Yard Backstroke, and freshman Anna Garcia finished 12th in the 50 Yard Freestyle. The 200 Yard Medley Relay (Garcia, Mousley, Lugg, DeBaecke) finished 15th and the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (Mousley, Lugg, DeBaecke, Garcia) finished 13th. Emily Lugg '19 was named Honorable Mention All State and Sarah Mousley was selected as Team MVP.
