Lauren Chua '18 Receives Scholarship at the Delaware Dance Festival

The Delaware Dance Festival (DDF) is dedicated to promoting the art of dance in Delaware and the surrounding area, by providing performance opportunities for dancers and scholarships for dance students. An annual, three-day event, the DDF took place in late February at the Grand Opera House in Wilmington, Del., and included dress rehearsals, master classes, scholarship auditions, and a performance.

Archmere senior Lauren Chua performed for the First State Ballet Theater, earning a $400 scholarship. Studios and companies from Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland participate in the dance festival, where scholarships are awarded to dancers based on evaluations during an audition process, as well as stage performances. Scholarships are given directly to dancers to help expose them to the highest levels of instruction, and to stoke the passion of dance.
