A native of Wilmington, Delaware, Jess Zutz Hilbert attended Archmere Academy from 2000-2004 where she was a five-sport athlete in field hockey, basketball, soccer, winter track & field, and ice hockey. She also thoroughly enjoyed complementing her athletic pursuits with those on the stage as a four-time cast member in Archmere’s musical theater productions. In high school, Hilbert earned All-State honors in two sports (soccer and field hockey) and was named a high school All-American in field hockey during her senior year. Throughout the numerous wonderful memories of her time as an Auk athlete, her favorites include the moment before the kickoff of the 2004 DIAA Women’s State Championship soccer game (which Archmere played in) and suiting up with her brother, Mike Zutz, as teammates on the ’03-’04 varsity hockey team.

Upon graduation from Archmere, she was awarded an athletic scholarship to Stanford University, where she played varsity field hockey for four seasons and walked on to the varsity softball team during her senior year. During her athletic career at The Farm, Jess received numerous accolades including 2007 NFCHA West Region All-American, 2004 NorPac Conference Rookie of the Year and 2007 Offensive Player of the Year, was named to Academic All-American teams in both field hockey and softball, and earned a Pac-10 Conference Post-Graduate Scholarship. In 2009, Hilbert was fortunate enough to represent the United States on the field hockey field at the World Maccabiah games in Israel. Hilbert and Team USA earned a silver medal at the games, which are the third largest sporting event in the world behind only the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup.

Jess currently lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband, Matt, and daughter Kayla. She is a licensed attorney in the state of Oregon and is the Co-Founder and Marketing Director of Red Duck Foods, Inc., an artisan organic condiment company she started with several of her business school classmates. In her spare time, she enjoys playing whatever sport is in season (which recently has included flag football, ice hockey, soccer, futsal, and softball), traveling, experimentation in the kitchen, and regularly enjoying the incredible food and beverage bounty of the Willamette Valley.
