Archmere Cheer Team Attends UCA Camp

The Archmere Academy cheerleading team participated in a two-day program with a representative from the Universal Cheerleaders Association, or UCA.  During these two days of clinics, the 26 member team engaged in an intense stunting clinic, along with a choreography camp during which the team learned a routine complete with complex stunts, tumbling, dance, and of course, cheers, that they will perform at the Homecoming pep rally and elsewhere.
Throughout these two days, it is safe to say that the experience was transformative. Co-Captain Ella Arcari ‘22 reflected on her second experience with UCA clinics.

“Because of Covid-19 safety rules, we were unable to do many of our favorite activities, such as performing at a pep rally and stunting last year,” Arcari said, “and because of this, the majority of our team this year is new to stunting, nor have they ever done a pep rally routine.

“This proved to be a major challenge that the team overcame with the help of Brooklyn, our UCA coach and representative.”

UCA is the largest cheer company in the world, hosting cheer competitions, cheer camps and clinics, and more, and has been around for more than 45 years. UCA and its related brands provide the highest quality educational training for cheerleaders with the goal of incorporating high level skills with traditional crowd leading.

Each member of the team benefited from this camp, and whether learning new skills or polishing the basics, the team walked out of the camp feeling noticeably more confident. They cannot wait to demonstrate their new stunts and routines at upcoming football games and this year’s Homecoming Pep Rally.
