For Second Year in a Row, Archmere Art Students Sweep Scholastic Art Competition

For the second consecutive year in a row, Archmere art students have won more Gold Key awards and more individual awards than any other school in the state of Delaware, sweeping the 2022 Statewide Scholastic Art competition. Sixty-one Archmere Academy students have been recognized with 126 awards in 15 Art and Design categories and 3 Portfolio Awards, in the nation’s most prestigious and competitive contest for excellence in fine art. 
Work is evaluated based on originality, technical skill, and emergence of a personal voice or vision. Gold Key awards represent the top 5% of work entered into each category, Silver Keys represent the top 10%. All Gold Key award winning work now advances to the national level of the competition, where students will be eligible for additional scholarships, exhibition, and publication opportunities.

What’s Next for Award Winners:
  • A pre-recorded awards video presentation will be publicly released on February 12th
  • American Vision Art Award Decisions: Wednesday, January 19, 2022 (American Visions are the pieces recognized as the Top 5 works in the state of DE, one will be the National American Visions Winner for Delaware, Top 50 in US)
  • An exhibit of Gold Key award-winning work will be displayed at the Arts Center Gallery at Delaware State University in Dover, DE The exhibition will be on view January 24th - February 12th. During the exhibition, the Arts Center Gallery (ACG) will be open to the general community and they also plan to arrange, as Covid permits, special viewing opportunities and events. Details and information will be forthcoming to Gold Key recipients and their families.
  • All pieces awarded a Gold Key at the regional (state level) will advance to the national level for additional awards, exhibition, publication, and scholarship opportunities. National Medalists are typically announced in early May.
