"The Dialog" Features Archmere Teacher Mr. Mike Johnson
Archmere junior Grace Koch nominated Mr. Mike Johnson, math teacher and student council facilitator, for the Dialog newspaper's "Teacher feature". Mr. Johnson was interviewed and highlighted in this month's edition.
Mike Johnson told the Dialog that "it was special to be nominated. To hear that one of those kids that you see day-in and day-out appreciated what you did, and thought that you were really impactful, it just means the world,” he said.
Grace is a member of student council, for which Mike Johnson is the moderator. She said he “is an encouraging and inspiring teacher and student council leader. Mr. Johnson establishes a personal relationship with each of his students while still demanding respect. He fosters a learning environment and makes class fun!”
Mike first began his Archmere career 16 years ago, teaching world religion courses, organizing Kairos retreats, class events and school liturgies. He quickly added math teacher to his resume, and now teaches both senior and 9th grade math, along with moderating Student Council and helping out with school activities whenever he can. "He likes what the ninth-graders bring as newcomers to high school, and his advanced-placement statistics class with the seniors allows him to work with some of the best math students at Archmere."
