Mr. Chris Boehm Featured in Forbes Article

Archmere's Director of College Counseling, Mr. Chris Boehm, was featured in a January article for Forbes. Author Brennan Barnard from Khan Lab School quoted Mr. Boehm's college counseling blog, College Aukservations, in his article titled, How to Start Your College Search. In it, several admissions counselors give their best advice regarding guidance about how to approach the admission experience as a junior. Mr. Boehm's section titled "Bright Futures", centered around the advice that a successful future begins with self confidence at the forefront. "If you're not enjoying the search, you are not doing it right."

 AukSCUBA Club Heads to Cozumel

Last summer a group of Archmere students, alumni, and faculty went on the first annual AukSCUBA Club trip. The trip was to sunny Cozumel, Mexico. As part of AukSCUBA, several students completed multiple PADI Scuba certifications, including Deep Water Diver, Wreck Diver, Underwater Navigation, etc. They dove for six days in the crystal blue water of Caribbean and encountered a wide range of underwater wildlife. Two alumni, David Demnicki ’19 and Andrew Demnicki ’21 completed all course work and diving necessary to achieve the rank of Master Scuba Diver, the highest rank available for non-professional divers.

On this year’s trip, we hope to have two present students complete that rank as well. In October, Alex Bogey ’24 moved one step closer by completing his Rescue Diver training. Additionally, many PADI course can count for college credit. If you’d like more information about AukSCUBA, please reach out to Mr. Demnicki ’86, our in-house PADI Elite Staff Instructor. This year’s trip is already in the works - back to Cozumel - and will again have Archmere students, alumni, and faculty.
